Electric (Smart) Door Locks: How Do They Work? | UnikCCTV

Have you ever imagined what it might be like to live in a world where you never had to worry about misplacing your home keys? For those of us who are prone to forgetfulness, the electric door lock security camera systems are a dream come true, but there's something even better about these new gadgets: they have the potential to make your house more secure.

What is an Electric Door Lock?

A door lock that is powered by electricity is referred to as an electric door lock. But how can they function without a key? What's more, how are you going to get in?

The pin and tumbler mechanism is used in the majority of conventional locks for entrance doors. Pins and spring-loaded cylinders are found inside the lock, which is only triggered when the proper key is inserted into the keyhole. The lock will not turn if you slide the incorrect in there, and the door will not open.

An electronic lock, on the other hand, is similar to a car's power door locks. A little motor is concealed in the lock and is actuated by an electrical impulse. It's comparable to the urge triggered when you press a button on a vehicle key fob to unlock a door, only you don't need the fob to accomplish it. Even better, today's electric locks for houses include complex locking options, such as timers that unlock or lock the doors at specific times of the day, as well as the ability to access a door from anywhere using your smartphone.

Types of Electric Door Locks Available

Coded Entry: The coded entry is one of the most frequent forms of electronic locks. Outside the door is a keypad, and all you have to do to go inside is punch in a few digits.

Smartphone-controlled lock: There's a lot you can do with a smartphone these days, including locking and opening your doors. Smartphone-controlled locks can be activated from anywhere, so all you need is your phone to get into your house.

That isn't all, though. They also allow you to check in from the office to see whether you forgot to lock the door or to unlock the rear door while you're away on vacation so that the painters may paint your kitchen. You may pre-set lock and unlock timings using a smart lock app, and some smart locks also feature monitoring, so you can get alerts if someone tries to get into your house, or simply to let you know your kids arrived home safely after school.

Biometric: You've probably seen those "your fingerprint is your password" door locks on TV, but did you know you can have one installed at your home? To get access to your house, most biometric door locks save a photo of your fingerprint, so all you have to do is place your finger on the lock. Voice-activated and ocular scanners are two more alternatives (although the latter may be prohibitively expensive for home purchase).

Key fob: Don't have a smartphone? Don't want your front door to be connected to it? There are security camera systems and locks on the market that are activated by touching a specific key fob to the lock (similar to how you touch your phone to a point of sale terminal to pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay).

Benefits of Electric Door Locks

  • You won’t have to remember your keys: Unless you choose a key fob-only option, most electric door locks eliminate the need to remember (or duplicate) keys. For forgetful people, that's motivation enough to make the transition and never look back.
  • It's simple to share access: With a coded entrance, you won't have to create multiple house keys... or worry about someone else copying your key. You may provide a code to your children, a contractor, or anybody else. Family members may share the app, and you can remotely open and re-lock your doors for just about anybody with a smartphone.
  • Restricting access is simple: Physical keys are simple to duplicate, making it difficult to determine who has used and returned a key to your home. However, codes can be altered, and some locks even allow for one-time entry codes, so you won't have to worry about the plumber coming to your home when you aren't expecting it. They don't even need a key or code if you remotely open your door for them (and re-lock it after they depart).
  • Electric locks are more difficult to "pick": Picking a lock is simple for those who are skilled at it, but they offer a lot of additional obstacles for criminals... They may simply give up and search to find a new property to assault.

Do You Actually Need A Smart Lock?

Your front door is secured by your home key, which locks and opens it. This concludes the discussion. A smart lock, on the other hand, is the way to go if you're seeking something more than basic functionality. Smart locks help make life simpler (and your house safer) in a variety of ways.

  • Regardless of where you are, you can control your front door. Your smartphone may be used as a key with a smart lock. You don't have to race home to beat your visitors or a delivery person; simply log into your app and open your front door from anywhere.
  • Codes are preferred over keys. If you've ever stood at your front door, rummaging through your luggage for your keys, you'll enjoy the keyless capability, which allows you to open your door with a simple code rather than a key.
  • There will be no more hide-a-keys. Smart locks reduce the need to make several copies of your key. This is also far safer than having many copies of your house key floating about, as it protects your home from possible burglars.
  • Notifications remind you to lock up. If you've ever left your house in a hurry to get to work or drop off your kids on time, you know the anxiety that comes with not knowing if you remembered to lock your door on the way out. If you forget to lock your door, many smart locks will give you a notification to your phone, allowing you to immediately lock it with the touch of a button.

How Apartment Video Intercom Systems Are Transforming Tenant Experience | UnikCCTV

In the 1890s, telephone-based intercoms became popular after Kellogg created the first intercommunicating telephone system in 1894. The device connected two phones in different rooms, allowing the user to speak directly to the recipient without having to communicate with an operator. Hence apartment intercom systems for apartment entry systems were first used in the late 1950s. With manufacturers embracing new technology, modern apartment video intercom systems are far improved than the primitive systems of the late nineteenth century. Tenants may now remotely open doors or converse with visitors via a one-way video link before giving them entrance. The emergence of the "experience economy" is pressuring property managers to develop data-driven tactics that give real-time personal convenience. Tenants will feel appreciated and safe as a result of the implementation of modern technologies. You may need to strike a balance as a property manager between providing a high-quali
